Starbooks Reading List

New research by the Literacy Trust has found:
  • Of those children who never read outside school, just 6% are above the expected level of reading for their age.
  • Young people who read outside of the classroom were 13 times more likely to read above the expected level for their age.
Reading incentive

The children will be provided with a book list (see below) from which they will choose a book to read at home (most of the books are available from local libraries) and complete a book review of the book in school. For a completed book review, they will receive a stamp on their loyalty card. A completed stamp results in an exclusive ‘café’ visit with Mrs Broadbent where they will receive a hot chocolate at the end of the half term. They will also be entered into a draw for a half-termly trip with school to the city library.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
