Apprentice Teaching Assistant Level 3

Annual Salary £11,895 (£9.00 per hour), 30.5 hours per week,  8:30am-3.00pm (45 minute unpaid lunch break)

Role description:

To work under the supervision of a teacher to support teaching and learning and provide specialist support to pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, in order to maximise pupil development and achievement.


Duties to include:

  • Deliver learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the professional direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs of allocated children
  • Assess, record and report to the teacher on pupil development and progress and attainment against pre-determined learning objectives
  • Share information about pupils with other staff as appropriate
  • Support pupils’ social emotional and physical wellbeing, reporting concerns to the appropriate person
  • Provide support to pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social sensory or physical difficulties
  • Have knowledge of and comply with all school policies and procedures
  • Escort and supervise pupils on out of school activities under the supervision of the class teacher
  • Within the context of school behaviour policies, use discretion and initiative to deal with unanticipated issues and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour
  • To supervise pupils at break and lunchtime, promoting active engagement with play and ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will spend 20% of their time working towards a Level 3 qualification
